FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - OFFICIAL RULES WILL BE POSTED SOON
Q: If the event is open to all breeds, are the classes approved by AQHA and will American Quarter Horses receive points?
A: Yes! The cutting, reining, roping and working cow horse classes will be recognized as AQHA special events, and American Quarter Horses competing will receive AQHA points based on the number of registered Quarter Horses in the class.
The ranch horse competition is open to all ranches who meet the criteria of the AQHA/Pfizer Best Remuda Award. Although horses in the Ranch Remuda Challenge will not receive points, their accomplishments in the competition will be noted on the horse’s permanent record at AQHA.
The roping events will be recognized by the American Rope Horse Futurity Association and follow the ARHFA rules. Horses competing in the cutting will also receive National Cutting Horse Association recognition.
At press time, we are working with National Reined Cow Horse Association on their approval.
Q: What is the Reining event?
A: Adding to the excitement of the competition, Battle in the Saddle was selected by the United States Equestrian Team as the event for the selection trials for the United States Reining Team that will be competing at the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games. Fans and exhibitors will be able to see and cheer on the riders who will be competing for gold at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games. There also will be a full slate of ancillary reining classes approved by Oklahoma Reining Horse Association.
Q: Can you explain the Ranch Horse event?
A: The Ranch Remuda Challenge is an event for registered American Quarter Horses 4 to 7 years old to be shown in a ranch horse competition that will include both reined and cow work. The pattern to be used will be AQHA Working Ranch Horse Pattern I.
